Blackburn MicroTech Solutions an Emission Competence Centre. We have all the necessary experience to give recommendations for cathode process settings and process improvements.
The performance of cathodes in cathode ray tubes (CRT) applications is closely related to the processing that they receive in the manufacture of the CRT.
For oxide and cermet cathodes two basic processes are necessary:
- Activation which converts the barium carbonate in the emissive layer on the top of the cathode into the barium oxide
- Aging which stabilises the emissive layer to deliver a consistent current over the life of the cathode
We at Blackburn MicroTech Solutions will recommend process process settings appropriate to your production equipment. Process recipes for both AC and DC ageing are available.
For the impregnated (dispenser) cathode, only cathode activation is necessary. No conversion to oxide is required since barium oxide is already present as the emissive material.
